Mixed Media Card Challenge: Beginnings

Friday, January 1, 2016

Well, here we are...2016!  And it's our first Mixed Media Card Challenge of the year:

When I thought about the new year and what I wanted to make...the world and the word peace came to mind.  Who doesn't want at least a little more peace in our world?  Now that would be a beautiful beginning to the new year!

The challenges run from the 1st to the 25th of each month, with the winners announced on the last day of the month.  To play along, simply create a mixed media card and enter it at the Mixed Media Card Challenge.  Be sure to check out the cards from the rest of the Design Team!  So much inspiration!

New to mixed media?  Simply combine two or more mediums on your card.  So many choices: watercolor, gesso, acrylics, distress inks, pencils, crayons, Copics, other inks and on and on...

The background is a piece of resist canvas that I've colored with Distress Paint, Color Bloom spray mist, Inka Gold and transparent gold watercolor.  Once that was completely dry, I stenciled with word "peace" with a Tim Holtz stencil and a white PITT Artist Pen.  The globe is die cut with a Tim Holtz die and the year has been die cut with some MFT dies.  I used some gold corrugated paper that didn't show up too well in my first picture, so here's a close up:

And as you can see, I did manage to get some sequins added to for the optional element!

Can't wait to see your designs!

Wishing each and every one of you a joyous and happy new year...may it be filled with love, laughter, joy, peace and exciting new discoveries!

Back soon with more my sweet friends...
