Dazzling Diva #60

Wednesday, January 28, 2015

It's time for our weekly Dazzling Diva challenge...is this not some amazing inspiration?  Especially given that Valentine's Day is fast approaching!

And here's my take on our inspiration:

Here's a close-up of the flower.  I've used a couple of colors of Inka Gold to highlight the embossing:

And this shows you the dimension and sparkle from the mix of the glass bead gel and the glitter:

The base of my card was an experiment for me today :)  I started out by using some glass bead gel with a stencil and before I lifted the stencil I just sprinkled some silver glitter on to it and pressed it very lightly. It worked! Don't you love when experiments work out?

The flower was made with Scarlet Red craft metal and a Tim Holtz die.  Once the layers were die cut, I embossed them with an embossing folder and rubbed on two colors of Inka Gold to highlight the embossing.

If you haven't tried it...the pliability of the craft metal makes it so easy to form flowers...I just used my fingers and the end of my die pick, until I achieved the look I wanted.  Then, to put it all together I used a gorgeous rhinestone brad from my stash.

A die cut sentiment in Baby Blue craft metal completes the card.  I adhered the craft metal to a cardstock base with a two-sided adhesive sheet before placing it on the card.

Here's what I used:

Dazzling Diva #59

Wednesday, January 21, 2015

It's Wednesday and that means another Add a Little Dazzle Dazzling Diva Challenge.  Our focus this week is Valentine's Day and music.  So here's a little inspiration to get you started:

And here's my take on it:

The background was stamped with a musical score, but I omitted some areas for interest and a bit of an aged look.  I used Add a Little Dazzle Scarlet Red for the heart frame, but wanted an area to stamp the sentiment, so I cut off one row of the strung hearts.

A simple stamped sentiment, a few wood veneer hearts with some added Stickles and done!

Here's what I used:

Addicted to Stamps and More #128 Holiday

Tuesday, January 20, 2015

Well, I'm back with another Addicted to Stamps and More Challenge...our theme this week is "holiday".  Our sponsor is:

And up for grabs is a $15 coupon to the store!

When I found this sentiment, I went looking for an image that would work with it and I think this fits the bill.  Isn't she a diva with her blingy belt, bra and sandals?  I have to admit, I resemble the sentiment.  Now don't get me wrong, I love the great outdoors...but don't make me sleep there *big grin*.  There are spiders and snakes and all sorts of creatures that I do not wish to share a bed with!!! Give me a nice hotel and I'm quite happy.

Pretty simple card...thought that instead of plain watercolor it required some shimmer so I used some H20s for my water coloring this time.  Some tiny rhinestones, a few sequins and some luscious red lipstick and done!

Here's what I used:
Paper:  Ranger Watercolor and Bazzill Marshmallow
Ink:  Ranger Jet Black Archival
Stamps:  Funny Bones by Riley & Company and Unity Fashionistas Bianca
All the other stuff:  Twinkling H20s, waterbrush, Gelly Roll metallic pen, Pretty Pink Posh sequins and misc. rhinestones

Hope you get a chance to join us this week at Addicted to Stamps and More!  Looking forward to seeing your creations!

One Layer Christmas Card Challenge #2

I'm back with another  One Layer Christmas card challenge!  I'll be by on the first and third Tuesdays of each month with a new Christmas design for you.  The real challenge...all cards must be just one layer.  Isn't that fun?  Hope you can play along! Using the optional twist will get you an entry into the monthly random drawing.  Every card that you enter with the twist = 1 entry into the drawing and you can enter as many times as you'd like!

And here's my take on the challenge:

Yes, there's that bokeh effect again!  And very non-traditional colors!  Again, another very simple design.  Stamped the bokeh dots in a couple of colors and then added the snow flakes in a third color.  A sentiment in black and my usual smattering of sequins and done!

Here's what I used:
Paper:  Bazzill Marshmallow
Ink:  Avery Elle Seaglass, Lemon Grass and Sapphire pigment inks; and Ranger Jet Black Archival
Stamps:  Simon Says Stamp Lots of Dots and Verve Merry and Bright
All the other stuff:  Simon Says Stamps sequins and Tombow adhesive

You Have My Heart

Monday, January 19, 2015

Thought that was a very appropriate title for this.  I'm playing along with a couple of challenges...the amazing Darnell Knauss has another fabulous NBUS challenge.  Well, *hangs head* I may have a few NBUS items around my craft room so it was kind of easy to find something to work with.  And CAS-ology is featuring Darnell as their guest designer for their...yes, you guessed it NBUS challenge. So had to sneak in a card before the deadlines...

I pulled out my never used Reverse Confetti stamp set and dies and went to work.  The background was stamped with the row "X"s and hearts three times using my MISTI.  What did I ever do without that tool?  A couple of die cuts, a tiny rhinestone heart and done!

Here's what I used:
Paper:  Bazzill Marshmallow White, Gina K. black and SU! Cherry Cobbler
Ink:  Ranger Jet Black Archival and Hero Arts Red Royal
Stamps:  Reverse Confetti Whole Lotta Hearts
All the other stuff:  Big Shot Pro, Confetti Cuts Love Note, Diagonal Stripe Pretty Panels Confetti Cuts, foam adhesive, misc. heart rhinestone, MISTI

Dazzling Diva #58

Wednesday, January 14, 2015

I'm back with another Add a Little Dazzle Dazzling Diva Challenge.  This week we have a color challenge featuring Scarlet Red:

And here's my take on it:

I've embossed the background and then used some dot stamps to create a bokeh effect.  Next I die cut the branch in Add a Little Dazzle Brushed Bronze, and the little birds in Scarlet Red.  The sentiment has was simply stamped on vellum and done!

Here's what I used:

Stencilled Congrats

Monday, January 12, 2015

Yes, I've been MIA the last while...but I'm back!  Sometimes life stuff gets in the way of stamping...

Wanted to play along with a few challenges today and managed to combine three with this design. Don't you love when that happens?

I'm really hooked on this reverse stencil technique.   I simply inked up my stencil, misted it with water and then placed it on some watercolor paper.  Then just stamped the floral image, which really mimics the stencil pattern.  A simple stamped sentiment and done!  Easy peasy...quick as a wink!

Here's what I used:
Paper:  Ranger watercolor paper and Bazzill Marshmallow
Ink:  Ranger Jet Black Archival and Distress Inks:  Shabby Shutters/Peacock Feathers
Stamps:  Stampendous (floral) and Altenew Label Love
All the other stuff:  Stencil Girl stencil, craft mat, water mister and foam adhesive

Dazzling Diva #57

Wednesday, January 7, 2015

Well here we are, back with our first Add a Little Dazzle Dazzling Diva Challenge for 2015.  And here's our gorgeous inspiration:

It's really funny how everyone is inspired so differently by a picture, sketch etc.  I seemed to be thinking stars for this...but there is not one star in the entire picture!  But I'm rolling with it and here is my take on it:

The background has been made with a stencil and light modelling paste.  Then I added the die cut rectangle in black, saving the little stars for use later.  Next I die cut the large stars in Add a Little Dazzle Golden Glimmer.

Then the sentiment was stamped on yet another die cut.

Would love to have you join our Dazzling Diva Challenge!   Use of AALD craft metal sheets is not a requirement to play along, but we'd love to see you use them! There is a $15 gift certificate up for grabs.

One Layer Christmas Card Challenge #1

Tuesday, January 6, 2015

Whoo hoo so excited!  My first post as a Design Team member for the One Layer Christmas card challenge!

Oh I was all over that optional twist of red *big smile*.  Red = poinsettias in this case for me.

I chose to make a mixed media style card this time.  My card base has been made with Strathmore watercolor paper.  First off, I stamped and masked the two poinsettias.  Then I dropped some Distress Inks into the background.  Once that was dry, I started on the poinsettias.  There are three shades of Distress Markers used, followed by some Gelatos.  I've also used some PITT artist pens for the center of the poinsettias and for shading around them.

A simple stamped sentiment and done...

Here's what I used:
Paper:  Strathmore 140# cold press watercolor paper
Ink:  Ranger Jet Black Archival; Distress Inks in Peacock Feathers, Broken China, Evergreen Bough and Dusty Concord
Stamps:  STAMPlorations Sentiment Builders: Happy and Holiday Sketches: Christmas Flower
All the other stuff:  watercolor brushes, Festive Berries Distress Marker, Fired Brick Distress Marker, red Gelatos, cobalt green PITT artist pen big brush, MISTI

So please join the entire Design Team over at the One Layer Christmas card challenge for our first challenge, and I'll see you in two weeks for another challenge.  Just think of all the Christmas cards you can add to your stash well before next Christmas :)

Sparkle and Shine Take Two

Sunday, January 4, 2015

Using the same technique, but different colors today.  And I've used a craft metal die cut with 3-D stars this time.  After making my card yesterday, I can see about a million *insert big grin here* variations on this design. And, you'll likely see more of them very soon!  This one has more of a dreamy, night sky feel to it and a lot more sparkle.

Here's what I used:
Paper:  Ranger Watercolor and Bazzill Marshmallow
Inks:  Ranger Archival Jet Black, Versamark and Chipped Sapphire, Dusty Concord and Stormy Sky Distress Inks
Stamps:  Lil' Inker Designs Girl's Best Friend
All the other stuff:  Big Shot Pro, Lil' Inker Designs Girls' Best Friend Diamond die, Add a Little Dazzle reverse side of craft metal, silver embossing powder, EK Success embossing tool, heat tool, Studio Calico wood veneer stars, Ranger Glossy Accents, Memory Box Starry Nights stencil, Distress Paints
