Just popping in to wish you and yours the loveliest of Christmases!  And I thank each and every one of you for being with me throughout the year.  The time you take to leave some love on my blog is so very much appreciated and even if you draw just a tiny bit of inspiration from my work, it makes it all so worthwhile.

There are things in store for 2015 that I look forward to sharing with you.  And like you, I look forward to finding new techniques to play with, new products to try out and just generally having fun. In my mind, it's all about the playing *insert big smile here*.

Wishing you all a safe, happy and very Merry Christmas.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year

Tuesday, December 23, 2014

Ah ha...there's that watercolor again :)  This time I've used a piece of watercolor paper from my stash. It was something I'd made with Distress Inks a while ago, so sorry...no colors to share with you. Using an MFT die and the in-laid die technique, it was a fairly simple, easy card to do.

I stamped the sentiment in Versamark and heat embossed it on a strip of vellum, added a star to the tree and a smattering of sequins...done!

Here's what I used:
Paper:  SU! Night of Navy, Bazzill Marshmallow, vellum and water color paper from my stash
Ink:  Versamark
Stamps:  Clearly Besotted Most Wonderful
All the other stuff:  MFT Die-namics Christmas Tree Cut Out, WOW embossing powder, sequins, EK Success powder tool, heat tool, Tim Holtz mirrored star

As always, I'll be back with more very soon...

What? No Watercolor?

Monday, December 22, 2014

Just sharing a card a made recently and no, there's no watercolor this time :)  But you KNOW I'll be back with more of those right?

Designer paper background, a bit of bling, a die cut reindeer in black that's got lots of Wink of Stella, a simple stamped sentiment and done.  OK, so the sentiment isn't quite so simple...did it in two tones.

Here's what I used:
Paper:  Bazzill Marshmallow and Teresa Collins Tinsel and Company
Stamps:  Altenew Lyrical Script
Ink:  Avery Elle Cherry and Sugar Plum
All the other stuff:   Big Shot Pro, Penny Black Leap of Joy die and Lil' Inker Designs Stitched Rectangle die, misc. bling, Wink of Stella pen, MISTI

Made this several weeks ago and just sharing it today.

The poinsettia image was stamped in archival ink on watercolor paper, as was the sentiment.  Then I wet the paper with a paintbrush and plain water before dropping in some Distress Inks.  Next I added a few splatters and a smattering of sequins...done!

Here's what I used:
Paper:  Bazzill Marshmallow and Ranger watercolor
Stamps:  Wordsworth (sentiment) and Holly Berry House
Ink:  Ranger Jet Black Archival; Tumbled Glass and Seedless Preserves Distress Inks
All the other stuff:  Big Shot Pro, Lil' Inker Stitched Rectangles, misc. sequins, adhesives and paintbrush

Distressed Watercolor Berries

Thursday, December 18, 2014

Using some Penny Black stamps to create a card with non-traditional colors today.

Very simple to do...I just inked up the background stamp with three colors of Distress Inks, misted with water and stamped onto my watercolor paper.  When that was dry, I stamped the same image in Versamark, offset to the right and heat embossed with some snowy embossing powder.

Then, I stamped the sentiment, distressed the edges and added three little rhinestones...and done!

Here's what I used:
Paper:  Bazzill Marshmallow and Ranger watercolor
Ink:  Distress Inks in Peeled Paint, Scattered Straw and Peacock Feathers; Versamark and Ranger Jet Black Archival
Stamps:  Penny Black Happy Berries and Berry Merry
All the other stuff:  WOW embossing powder, EK Success powder tool, heat tool, water mister, distressing tool and misc. rhinestones

Dazzling Diva #56

Wednesday, December 17, 2014

It's time for another Dazzling Diva Challenge and here's our gorgeous inspiration today:

And here's my take on it:

I started out by cutting two of my snowflakes in Golden Glimmer and one in Wonderous White:

Making a different type of background today using double-sided adhesive sheets. By using the adhesive sheets I can vary the width of my strips.  Next I added white glitter to some:

And silver glitter to others.  In order for the glitter to stick really well to the two-sided adhesive strips, I added lots of glitter and then burnished it with my fingers.  It makes quite a difference in how the glitter adheres to the strips!

Next, I played with different layouts for the strips until I was happy.  You'll note that I made them slightly longer than needed.  This makes it really easy to place them on the card.  Using a grid mat like the one you see here also makes it easier to line up the strips fairly straight.

Then, peeling away the adhesive backing each strip was added to the card base and trimmed to fit with non-stick scissors.

Yes, there are adhesive tapes that are already glittered, but I like to use what I have and the double-sided tape and a drawer full of glitter makes this an easy thing to do :)

Watercolor Snow

Playing along with the CAS-ology challenge today:

And yes, still playing with watercolors...just can't seem to get away from that :)  Very simple design and again, if you're short on cards, quick and easy to mass produce.  Today, I've done a watercolor resist design.

The snowflakes are heat embossed and then it's allowed to cool.  Then I've taped a piece of watercolor paper to some coroplast...any firm surface will do.  After spreading plain water across various parts of the paper, I start dropping in my watercolors.  It's just a matter of playing until you're satisfied with the amount of color.  Once it was dry, it was stamped with the sentiment and adhered to my card base.

And speaking of card base, funny story there.  I've been busy making a lot of cards, like so many of you the last few weeks. It was time to open a new package of my favorite cardstock...Bazzill Marshmallow.  Cut it down the middle, placed it on my Scor-Pal, scored it and then looked at it...WTH???  It's a half inch too long on one side of the card.  Then I flip it over and look...there's the Bazzill logo and a bar code.  My entire package is cut 1/2 inch too long...must have been the end cut of the paper.  Thought I was going crazy for a minute and this time of year that is a distinct possibility :)

Here's what I used:
Paper:  Ranger watercolor and Bazzill Marshmallow
Ink:  Versamark and Jet Black Archival
Stamps:  Tim Holtz Winter Wonder and Altenew Lyrical Script
All the other stuff:  EK Success powder tool, WOW embossing powder, heat tool, paintbrush, water tray, Zig Kuretake watercolors, adhesive

Silver Skies

Saturday, December 13, 2014

Ha, everytime I think my photography skills have improved, I try and photograph something shiny like this...arghhhhh....  Perhaps you could use your imagination and see that the entire area behind the embossed trees is heat embossed in silver???  Trust me :)

I wanted to play along with a couple more challenges this week.  Time is tight with Christmas fast approaching, but sometimes you just have to take some time to play!

My inspiration for this card comes from the CASology Challenge. Just click on the graphic to take you there!

And the Color Me Challenge.  Just click on the graphic to take you there!

Actually it's a very simple card to make, so if you are pressed for time and needing to mass produce some Christmas cards here's how.  Use your EK Success powder tool to cover your card front.  Ink up the top your embossing folder with Versamark ink and emboss it.  Then heat emboss with your heat gun.

I added a simple heat embossed sentiment in the same embossing powder on a die cut banner in Night of Navy and attached it with foam adhesive squares.  Easy peasy to do!

Here's what I used:
Paper:  Bazzill Marshmallow and SU! Night of Navy
Ink:  Versamark
Stamps:  Clearly Besotted Most Wonderful
All the other stuff:  Big Shot Pro,  Lifestyle Crafts Arrows and Banners dies, Tim Holtz Birch Trees embossing folder, WOW Metallic Platinum Sparkle embossing glitter, EK Success powder tool, heat gun and foam adhesive squares.

A smattering of sequins and done!

For Addie

Friday, December 5, 2014

This card is headed to Utah for Addie...

As soon as I saw this story on the internet, knew I had to make a card.  If you haven't seen it yet...Addie is a 6 year old living in Utah and this will likely be her last Christmas.  She lost her daddy last month and has endured far more than any little six year old girl should in her short little life. Addie's Christmas wish is for Christmas cards.  A very simple request right?

So if you can find a spare card please send it to the following:

Addie and her family
Box 162
Fountain Green UT  84632
USA

Here's Addie's story from ABC news.

I'm really rusty with my Copic coloring.  That's what happens when you don't practice!  I don't have a lot of cutesy type stamps but recently bought this...perfect for Copics and perfect for Addie!

Simple stamping, colored with Copics and lots of added sparkle!

Here's what I used:
Paper:  Bazzill and Xpress-It blending paper
Ink:  Ranger Jet Black Archival and Versamark
Stamps:  JustRite and Clearly Besotted
All the other stuff:  Big Shot Pro, Lil' Inker and MFT dies, Tim Holtz stars, Copics, Wink of Stella pen

Dazzling Diva #54

Wednesday, December 3, 2014

Time for another Dazzling Diva Challenge...isn't this picture just brimming with inspiration?  This gorgeous snowy scene has it all...the snow, the wreath, the trees, the car, the license plate and yes...those gifts!  Our theme today is snow or snowflakes!

And here's my take on our inspiration:

Lots of die cuts in the metals today :)  I love how the metal cuts so beautifully with any die I have! Once the tree and birds were adhered in place, I mixed up some transcluent embossing paste and some glitter to create the snow.  When pushing it through the stencil, I was careful to leave an area for the snowflake and sentiment die cuts.  Embossing paste works so well with the craft metal...it adheres beautifully!

Here's what I used:
Paper:  Bazzill Marshmallow
Ink:  none
Stamps:  none
All the other stuff:  Big Shot Pro, Add a Little Dazzle Scarlet Red craft metal, Add a Little Dazzle Garland Green craft metal, reverse of craft metal, transcluent embossing paste, Clear Rock Candy Distress Glitter, snow stencil, Glossy Accents

These items can be found in the Add a Little Dazzle Boutique:
