Lydia's challenge for the Hope You Can Cling To Challenges at Splitcoast Stampers is none other than paper tole. So we'll call this an homage to paper tole.
My mom made several paper tole pieces...a very long time ago...let's not discuss how long ago shall we? And, I being the dutiful daughter cut out piece, after piece, after piece to help her. She had the patience of Job making these pictures...me not so much. I have no idea where they ended up and that's a shame as she did beautiful work.
slightly less work a lot less work. But fun, nonetheless.
The sweet little image was stamped on watercolor paper, and then colored with Distress Inks, a small brush and some water. While that was drying, I cut out three of each of the butterflies, and one each of the bloomers, apron and pocket in some coordinating papers. The bloomers were attached right to the watercolored piece, while the apron was popped up on dimensional foam. The pocket was popped up even higher with another bit of dimensional foam. The first of each of the butterflies was attached to the watercolor paper, and each of the two other layers was popped up by gluing them just in the middle.
The peach has clear Wink of Stella on it...but that really doesn't show up... And I finished the card with a simple die cut sentiment "hugs".
A time consuming piece of work, but I'm quite happy with the result.
Here's what I used:
Paper: Bazzill Marshmallow, Ranger Watercolor and MME Away We Go
