Inlaid Happy Birthday

Saturday, April 5, 2014

Playing along with a few challenges.  This technique is one of the many awesome techniques from Online Card Classes Clean & Simple 3.

There is so much sparkle you almost need sunglasses.  The spray inks used to make the dots and splashes have sparkle, the balloon has been kissed with Wink of Stella, the background grid is heat embossed in silver and of course there's the sparkling stars...like I said a lot of sparkle!!!

The "happy birthday" is an inlaid die cut...let me tell you there are some dies that this is easy with and some not so much.  I questioned my sanity several times while putting this together *grin*.  In case you've never tried this technique here's how it was done.  The HB was die cut in black and then the card was die cut where it was to be placed.  When the card part is cut, there are a million (OK maybe not that many but it felt like it!) little bits that must be captured and put back onto the card.  See all those loops?  Take a sheet of computer paper/scrap paper and add rows of tape from your ATG, then place it behind the card stock facing up so that the sticky side is ready for the die cuts.  Carefully place the black die cut into the card and press down...it will stick quite well.  Now take all those little tiny bits and stick them back where they belong...this is where you may very well question your own sanity and mine for suggesting this!!!

Added a die cut balloon,  some stars and done!

Here's what I used:
Paper:  SU! Pool Party and Basic Black
Stamps:  MFT Abstract Art (splotches), Club Scrap (tiny splotches), Tim Holtz (grid pattern)
Ink:  Versamark
All the other stuff:  Big Shot Pro, SSS Balloon craft dies, SSS Happy Birthday craft die, black hemp cord, stars, silver embossing powder, heat gun, Lindy's Stamp Gang Tainted Love Teal Starburst spray, LSG Whale Watch Blue Starburst spray, LSG Tibetan Poppy Teal Starburst spray, Wink of Stella silver marker, adhesives
