The Heart Has Its Reasons

The Free For All Challenge over at Splitcoast today is to make a spring card...ok...I started out with spring colors...pinks, mauves, greens and suddenly ended up with more of a Valentine.  Ah well....

My card base is a standard 4.25" x 5.5" in SU! Wisteria Wonder.  Next I took a piece of SU! Naturals Ivory and cut it 4.25" wide and then proceeded to rip it horizontally.

Now the fun begins!  I stamped the background stamp in Ranger Archival Jet Black and added two layers of Picket Fence Distress Stain.  Once that was dry, I added Spun Sugar, Shabby Shutters and Dusty Concord Distress Stains in a random fashion.  Dried that with my heat gun, added another layer of Picket Fence and then stamped around the perimeter with just the edge of a stamp in Gathered Twigs Distress Ink.  Then in the lower right corner I added another branch/floral image in Dusty Concord Distress Ink.  Again, another layer of Picket Fence Distress Stain over top of that.  The top and bottom edges are inked with Weathered Wood Distress Ink.

The bird/branch image is stamped with Ranger Archival Jet Black.  I stamped off the sentiment and stamped just under the branch so it would be tucked under the heart...I wanted the words "the heart" to sort of stand out.  Then I stamped the sentiment again in the same ink in the  lower left corner.

The heart is die cut and inked with Weathered Wood.  The ticket is from Maya Road...it's been inked with Spun Sugar and I added more Picket Fence Distress Stain before stamping the word LOVE in Festive Berries Distress Ink.  A little red heart for the bird and a clip are the only other embellies.

Here's what I used:
Paper:  SU! Naturals Ivory, Wisteria Wonder and Poppy Parade
Ink:  Distress Inks in Spun Sugar, Dusty Concord, Festive Berries, Weathered Wood, Gathered Twigs and Ranger Archival Ink in Jet Black
Stamps:  Tim Holtz Urban Tapestry, Shabby French and Stuff to Say
All the other stuff: Big Shot Pro, Tim Holtz Movers and Shapers Mini Hearts Set, Spun Sugar Distress Stain, Shabby Shutters Distress Stain, Dusty Concord Distress Stain, Picket Fence Distress Stain, sponges, Maya Road ticket, SU! clip, Recollections self adhesive heart rhinestone, craft mat, heat gun, ATG

Back soon with more!  Thanks for joining me today!  I'd love to know what you think of this?  Are you a Tim Holtz fan?

  1. What a stunning "love" card! I like Tim Holtz's products but don't feel very confident using many of them. Thanks for making them seem a little more accessible!
